Six passengers hurt in North London bus bridge crash
A passenger suffered serious head injuries when the top of this bus was sliced off after the driver had to take a diversion under a low bridge. Five other passengers were also hurt in the crash. Witnesses said the bus hit the side of the bridge, despite a sign - ringed above - warning tall vehicles to use the centre of the road. One added: “I saw the bus go into the wall. All the windows popped out and the roof just peeled back.” The driver of the bus suffered shock. He had gone under the bridge because a massive fire had ripped through Camden Market in North London, blocking the bus’s normal route. Stalls, shops and a pub were destroyed in the blaze on Saturday. Scores of firefighters tackled the inferno, which has left more than 300 businesses facing ruin. Police last night refused to say if the fire was suspicious. A spokesman said: “It’s too early to speculate.”
