Dr Rajendra Pachauri will stay on as chairman of the United Nations climate change panel, despite calls for his resignation. “I have every intention of staying right till I’ve completed the mission that I’ve accepted to carry out—namely, the completion of the Fifth Assessment Report in 2014,” he said. But Dr Benny Peiser, of the Global Warming Policy Foundation, said there have been calls from inside the scientific community for Dr Pachauri to go. “As long as he stays the IPCC will not restore credibility,” he said. “ Everybody knows that so there is a risk that the next report will not be taken that seriously.”
