Hamas political chief Khaled Mashaal on Monday asked Jordan’s King Abdullah to inform US President Barack Obama that his organization supports a two-state solution with Israel, Saudi Arabia’s al-Sharq reported. According to the report, which cited Jordanian officials, Mashaal expressed his organization’s support for a conflict-ending agreement that would grant the Palestinians an independent state based on the pre-1967 lines. The king is expected to convey the message to Obama in a meeting scheduled for the end of February. http://www.timesofisrael.com/hamas-leader-reportedly-backs-two-state-solution/
Hamas denied Thursday that its leader, Khaled Mashaal, had declared his acceptance of the two-state solution. The denial came following a report in a Saudi-owned newspaper that claimed that Mashaal had authorized Jordan’s King Abdullah to notify the US administration that Hamas accepted the two-state solution… “These claims are baseless,” said Izzat al-Risheq, a senior Hamas official. “The two-state solution issue was not discussed during the meeting between brother Mashaal and King Abdullah.” http://www.jpost.com/MiddleEast/Article.aspx?ID=301680&R=R1
