Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon on Friday welcomed President Bush’s call for a summit on climate change, expressing hope that it will reinforce international efforts to tackle global warming.
Bush, under international pressure to take tough action against global warming, called Thursday for a summit of nations that emit the most greenhouse gases, led by the United States, to set a long-term global strategy for reducing emissions.
“I think it is a positive statement, in the sense that the United States, at the level of President Bush, has realized the urgency and importance of climate change,” Ban said. http://www.kansascity.com/440/story/132989.html
