Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi said he expected the European Council to put a climate deal on hold because of the current financial crisis. “I think that today at the European Council it will be decided to have a certain flexibility, to wait a moment,” Berlusconi told reporters. “Right now there is a crisis that makes it difficult for economies, and not just the Italian one, to sustain the extremely costly impact (of the plan),” he said.
