Atommüll als Wirtschaftswunder

As scientists from around the globe gather in Toronto next week to discuss the best ways of burying nuclear waste for thousands of years, a Toronto professor has a different idea. Peter Ottensmeyer, professor emeritus at University of Toronto, says waste fuel from Canada’s nuclear reactors can be re-used. Not only will it provide vastly more energy than it does now, says Ottensmeyer. The re-used fuel will also lose its radioactivity much more quickly. In fact, there’s potential to get 134 times more energy from what is now simply discarded as used fuel. He estimates the value of the potential electricity to be in the trillions of dollars.
