Heute waren wir den ganzen Tag in Colonial Beach unterwegs. Zum Frühstück bei Ola’s Country Kitchen mit Ginny und ihrem Bruder Fred. Zum Lunch trafen wir Pete Bone jr., den Bürgermeister von C.B., und Bob Swink, den Chef von Colonial Beach Real Estate, Inc. Bobs Hobbys sind alte Autos, die er aufkauft, restauriert und verkauft. Zur Zeit hat er in seiner Garage einen Ford Thunderbird, Baujahr 56, einen Fairlane Starliner 5oo, Baujahr 57, und eine Chevy Corvette, Baujahr 58. Uns zu Ehren fährt er alle drei Oldies vor seinem Haus auf. John und Jean Conaty kommen dazu, mit ihrem Fairlane Convertible, Baujahr 57. Wenn sie verreisen, fahren sie einen Cadillac Deville 2006, zum Einkaufen innerhab von C.B. einen Golf Cart mit Batterieantrieb. Die meisten Commercials im amerikanischen Fernsehen werben für Essbares: Burger King, McDonald’s, Wendy’s, KFC, Hellmann’s, Arby’s, Taco Bell, Subway, IHOP, Applebee’s, Dunkin’ Donuts, California Pizza Kitchen, Ben & Jerry’s.
In Deutschland dagegen geht es in der Werbung meistens um Wasch-, Putz- und Reinigungsmittel, Toilettenpapier, Tampons, Binden und Seifen.
Irgendwie ist die Werbung in den USA appetitlicher. Und morgen probieren wir Red Lobster aus.
